Good day, we have a problem with our van, these lights are on and cannot understand what is it exactly. We checked with obd2 and got two codes p0037 and p0138. Can these cause these lights? We turning off check engine light, but soon it starts again. Do we need to replace this sensor to get rid of these lights? Thank you for your help!

Good evening.

What lights are you talking about? I am sure one is the check engine light.

Clearing codes does nothing as the issue needs to be addressed. Once the code is determined, flow chart needs to be followed, failure determined and repaired and then you can clear the light.

P0037

P0037
Item Description
Symptom/DTC P0037
Descriptor
Probable Causes
Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 Heater
Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 Heater Circuit Open or Shorted
Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 Heater Circuit Shorted

in most cases it is the O2 sensor which is the issue. It is the downstream O2 sensor for bank 1

138

P0138
Item Description
Symptom/DTC P0138
Descriptor
Probable Causes
Fuel Injector
Fuel Pressure
Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2

both codes are related to the same sensor. Voltage needs to be checked to the sensors to be sure the heater portion of the circuit has voltage

Are you going to do the repairs yourself?
