What is the most likely the cause for a lean condition? Car operates nicely. Gas mileage has dropped since light came on. Was about thirty eight mpg on the highway. Now it is about twenty eight mpg. Thanks in advance for your help.

The most likely cause of a lean condition is "too much air", normally a vacuum leak.

There is not much for vacuum lines on this engine. I have made a visual check and I can see nothing that would cause code P0171. Do you know of a particular area to look? I do not believe it is to complicated or serious. It is just to know where the most likely leak is. I need the light out for sate inspection, plus my lost gas mileage. Thanks
