I have owned this vehicle since new.

Initially took vehicle to dealer for a continuous crank upon start issue. Replaced the EGR. Seemed to cure that problem. No error codes or lights with this issue.

Traveled about 6 miles from dealership and check engine light came on. Returned to dealer and they indicated it was the catalytic converters. Replaced same with aftermarket unit.

Traveled about 150 miles and check engine light came on. Vehicle running fine. Had code checked and it was a P0420 error. Had both o2 sensors replaced.

Drove about 20 miles after that repair and check engine light came on again. Code is still P0420.

What else can it be? I am tired of being a guinea pig.

Thanks!

Good afternoon,

Do you know what brand they used for the catalytic converters? The 420 is a catalytic converter code for a bad converter. Using an aftermarket converter rarely works. You need a good quality catalytic converter.

Do you have the receipt?

Unfortunately, I do not know the aftermarket brand. I was thinking upgrading it to a MagnaFlow direct fit one. OEM is about twice the cost.

I would only use a Walker or a Bosal. They have a 5-year warranty on the light returning.

I attached them below.

Those seem very reasonable. I will try that and let you know the result.

Walker is the top brand and that is what I use unless there is no one available, I will use Bosal.

They both are the only ones who will offer a 5-year warranty on the light.
