I took my car to a mechanic, and he said what was wrong with my front A/C was the A/C control module. He couldn’t get it from Mopar or anywhere else due to a shortage nationwide. I found a brand new one through an online parts dealer and purchased it. So, my question is, I know how to access the A/C control module and I’m trying to save money and replace it myself, do I need to unhook the negative cable under the hood to the battery? I’ve seen a lot of videos, no one says yes or no. That’s the question.

I would disconnect the battery to keep the job safe from short circuits and stop the airbag from going off accidentally. You may need to do a calibration verification test once the new part is installed. Here is how to do the job, check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes.

Hi,
Got the mechanic to change the module, he said it worked but wouldn’t turn on the blower, which was new, I brought him the old one and low and behold it worked for 3-4 hours now same issue. Any ideas? Do I need an OEM Mopar blower? It’s a confusing car.

So when the blower motor goes out it can pull too many amps and take out the module which sounds like what has happened. I would go with OEM parts, try a new blower motor first. Here is how and a guide to help test the power and ground of the blower motor:

Hi Mr. Ken,

Everything was OEM, including the blower, so would putting in a new module have caused the blower motor to quit working?

I had a mechanic look at it and he said the ac control module was not working so I bought a mopar oem replacement module and he installed it. Still couldn’t get it to work, I had replaced the blower motor with another new one but evidently it wouldn’t work with that one, so I brought him the old one, he installed it, lo and behold it worked! For 3-4 hrs, now same problem. Any suggestions? Thanks
