I had to change the wiring harness on this truck due to a small fire on top of the engine from a fuel leak. Since doing so and changing the PNP switch because I couldn’t get the original off without damage. I’ve got no power to the crank fuse which feeds the starter relay. What steps should I take from this point?

Hi,

When you test the crank fuse for power, is the key in the start position? That is the only time that fuse sees power.

If you do, then work backward. I attached a page from the wiring schematic. If you work back from the crank fuse, power is supplied via the ignition switch in the start position. For power to reach the switch, the ignition C fuse in the under-hood fuse box needs to be good and have power.

Start with this and let me know if you have power to the crank fuse with the key in the start position and if there is power to the ignition C fuse which should have power at all times.

Also, if there are other known electrical problems since the repair, let me know the specifics.

Take care,

joe

See pics below.

Note: I had to cut the page in half to make it readable for you. I did overlap the two and highlighted the areas of concern. Also, power to the Ign C fuse is direct. I'm seeing no fuses between the battery and that fuse. If there is no power to it, disconnect the battery and remove the fuse box for inspection.
