Change sensor and after short period the check light comes back on

I change the temperature sensor and the check engine light goes off for a short period but then comes back on. I check the codes again and it’s always the same, temperature sensor.

Hello thanks for using 2CarPros. The coolant sensor is a 2 or 3 wire type. If you have the means you can unplug the sensor and take a couple voltage readings with a basic multi-meter. There should be a yellow wire reading 5 volts coming from the engine computer and the other wire should be a black wire which is the sensor ground. If you check the black wire with the other meter lead going to battery ground, it should read less than.05v. That's how you voltage drop checking the ground circuit. There may be a 3rd wire which will read 9-12 volts. That's for the gauge inside the truck. Let us know if we can help any other way.
