Sirs- Mine. Is SXT 3.8 LTR V6. I am in process of replacing my radiator, and have everything completely out, fans hosed, etc. So I also need to replace the alternator as well. So, I was able to take out plugs, front top bolt and a top side bolt. I also have passenger front tire off and the plastic protector sleeve. My next step has to be loosen the serpentine belt by the tension-er. Here is where I am stuck. I tried a pry bar, no room to get to it and the metal part of car. I would say the space between the metal part of car and the front of tension-er is bout 1"?
Tried just a socket wrench, no room. I do know I only have to get this turned about "1/4 turn" counter clockwise to release belt, then reverse with new one. Do you have any suggestions? I know there i's a tool for this but cash is getting tight. That is disability for ya.

Thanks,

Good afternoon.

You need a long open end wrench to get on the bolt for the tension-er. It is much longer than standard wrenches. You can rent one at a parts store for this project.
