Catalytic converter removal

The converter is stopped up causing it to bog down, backfire, and run terribly. Can I just remove it and replace it with a piece of straight pipe?

Good morning,

No. That is in violation of federal law. That is required to be there to help clean the air of all the gases from the engine.

You can get the converter at a reasonable price from different places.

I attached a picture of the converter for you. It is $165.00 at rock auto and the exact fit for your car.
