I know that my vehicle has two catalytic converters. Since getting the vehicle I've gotten random "bank 2" codes. I've tried replacing everything that I can but recently I've noticed a strong sulfur smell coming from my van when stopped. I imagine it's due to a bad catalytic converter and I can only assume it's the bank 2 one. I've tried looking up prices but can only find "front right" or "front left." Which one is bank 2? If I purchased one, I'd like to know which one is the one I believe I need. Thanks!

Hi,

If you smell that, it could be running rich. Have you checked the fuel pressure to make sure it's within spec?

Also, the 3.6L catalytic converters (3) are bolted to the integrated exhaust manifold (1). A steel retainer bracket (4) is used to hold the lower section of the flange while bolts (2) are used to secure the flange to the integrated exhaust manifold. See pic 1 below

A cross-under pipe connects the forward and rearward catalytic converters and merges them into a single output at which it directs the exhaust through a single pipe. (See pic 2 and refer to the numbers above to identify parts).

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

joe
