Car has had two catalytic converters put on it and both have failed and cracked within a month of been replaced. Not sure what's causing this, but need help.

Good morning.

It sounds like they are overheating from running too rich with fuel. Unburned fuel in the exhaust will cause them to heat up and get damaged.

Is there a running issue with your car?

Hi, thanks for the reply. The car was running fine before the first catalytic converter failed and ran fine after replacing it until the second one failed.

Okay, does it run bad at this time?

What brand converter was used for the replacement?

Hi, yes it does now as catalytic converter has a hole in it. Not sure what the make of the catalytic converter was, but it was off another Peugeot 208 and it was the same year.

Okay, so it was used. Never a good idea.

You need to replace with new only.
