I was driving my car a few months back from the store and as I was driving it just shut off and then the speed thermometer started going down. I tried to press the gas and it wouldn’t go anywhere and when I tried to start it just made a whining noise.

Hi,

This can be the result of a few things. It could be fuel-related, ignition related, or a timing issue. First, if it is possible, record it cranking and upload it for me to hear. I can usually tell if it is a timing-related issue. Also, I can tell if it is a starter issue.

Next, see if it will start with starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know it's fuel related. I realize you replaced the fuel pump, but it could be related to the injectors.

If there is no change whatsoever, confirm there is spark to the plugs.

Here is a link that shows how to check:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-for-ignition-spark

Try this so we can narrow things down and let me know what you find. Also, if you could record it cranking, that may prove very helpful.

Take care and let me know if you have other questions.

Joe

Hi,

Listening to that doesn't indicate a timing issue. Have you tried the other things I suggested?

Let me know.

Joe
