just a few clicking noises then dead?

I recently changed the alternator and charged the battery but the car still won’t start, no turn over just a few clicking noises then dead, but it will start when I connect it to another car. What is preventing the car from starting? I don’t think it’s the started because it starts just fine when jumped.

Yes, you have a dead battery, when the car starts after jumping it do you have a battery warning light on? If so this means the alternator is not charging. You can use this guide to double check the alternator when the engine is running, if it is charging then you have a defective battery.
