A couple of times in the last month the radio in my camry just stopped. Today, the radio stopped and the speakers went off. Lights then flashed and my car just cut off at a red light. It didn't turn over the first time, but did on the second.

I had the alternator and battery tested at auto zone and everything seems okay. What can be the possibilities? I don't want to be at the mercy of a mechanic who would perform expensive repairs and not solve the problem.

Any troubleshooting has to be done while the problem is occurring, otherwise there is no defect to be found. One thing you can look for yourself is to follow the smaller positive battery wire to the under-hood fuse box. Be sure that connection is clean and tight.

I am not sure if this would provide any further information, but I forgot to mention that the "welcome to Toyota" lights started flashing repeatedly and my heat/air started making sort of a sound like it was losing pressure. Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Hey Barry,

This sounds like the battery has a short circuit which will sometime flare up. I would start by replacing it and see if the problems goes away.

Here is a guide that will help you.
