Hello Folks/Experts,

I have Ford Fairmont AU2, Australian edition running on Dual Fuel. I mostly drive on LPG only. My car sometimes stops when I hit the accelerate pedal too hard while the car just about to move and also blast like a bomb and I can see the white color fumes coming afterwards. I have to then restart the car. It's the same problem when I about to drive off Red Traffic lights.

What I noticed when I opened the bonnet:

1) The hooks which holds the top plastic cover on Air filter are missing and also the Air hose pipe which connects the air filter area to somewhere on engine is cracked as well.

Do you think that what my problem is? So if I will put on new hooks to hold the top plastic covering on Air Filter and will replace the Air hose Pipe from the Air Filter, should resolve the problem.

Any expert advise will be greatly regarded.

Thanks

This is an induction backfire problem, normally fixed by replacing plugs and leads and getting the gas system serviced, a gas service should be done every 20,000Kms its not a big expensive job, but it will pay for it's self with fuel savings.

Just make sure that they are gas accredited otherwise you may be wasting your money.
