Car is getting check engine light when it stalls. Light check say low fuel pressure. Car goes into limp mode. Allow car to sit for brief time and it starts light goes out and it runs fine. Ford dealer checked it out and said it was fuel pressure switch on the fuel rail. Replaced, still having the problem. Doesn't happen all the time. Has been over a week since the last time.

Hi,

Can you tell me which code is actually found? Also, have you checked fuel pressure to see if it is within spec?

Let me know.

Hi,

The code is for a fuel rail pressure being low, but there are a few things that can cause it. Take a look at pic 1. I copied the specifics related to this code. Based on what is listed, it sounds like rather than the sensor isn't the first suspected issue. Also, everything indicates low fuel pressure to the rail and not the result of a bad pressure sensor.

Based on what I am reading, the sensor is most likely working, but the PCM can no longer use the sensor to maintain proper pressure because it is too low.

Did they provide anything that had the pressure readings indicated on it?

The car spent the last two days at a local mechanic shop. They have test driven with the car hooked to a computer. Everything is operating normal. But it runs good between times when it acts up.

It has been over a week since it acted up. I had seen somewhere online about the computer needing flashed after the canister recall repair. Do you know anything about this?

Hi,

Yes, there is a recall related to the reprogramming. I attached a pic below of it. If you can't read it because of size, let me know.
