Sometimes you will be driving and the speedometer will just stop working, but the car still runs. Then sometimes the speedometer will stop and the car will die immediately. Then sometimes the car will just die randomly but all times it usually just starts right back up. Changed the VSS and when I took out the old one it did have some transmission fluid on it, should there be any fluid on the VSS? Also, what else could be causing these issues? Thanks for any input.

How would this cause the speedometer to just quit working and yet the car is still running, Also, is the VSS suppose to get transmission fluid on it?

Yes the vss is supposed to get fluid on it it's only a little splash so it's nothing to be concerned about. As far as scanning for code sand check ing fuel pressure if you have a problem with a sensor or low fp then it can cause the problem you are having. You can also try cleaning the throttle plate on both sides and iac hole with choke cleaner that may be your problem as well.
