I noticed my car shakes but only shaking when in reverse while giving it gas. When I back up and don't press on the gas it doesn't shake. I've taken it to two shops and the last one I went said could be the transmission torque converter. The other shop said it could CV axel. I'm just asking what you think it could possibly be? Thanks.

Hi,

If you press harder on the throttle, do you feel it? If not, it could be related to transmission line pressure. For reverse to be achieved, the system needs to provide the highest level or line pressure that is used for any gear. Is the transmission fluid clean and full? As far as the torque converter is concerned, it could be related, but that isn't my first suspect.

Also, if it is related to a CV joint, chances are you would hear a clicking sound when turning the steering wheel all the way in one direction and moving. Take a look through this link. Look toward the bottom. It is the last paragraph before it indicates, "Got Any Questions." That explains the symptoms related to a bad joint.

Let me know if you have questions or if there is something I can do to help.

Take care,

Joe

Hello. Sorry for the late reply.
I don't know when the last time the transmission fluid was changed, and it appeared dirty so I went and had it changed at a shop, but they just exchanged the fluids. So now It continues to shake when I press the gas going in reverse but when I don't press gas it doesn't shake in reverse it reverses fine.
No, I haven't noticed any clicking sounds when turning steering wheel.

Hi,

Was the transmission oil filter replaced or did they just drain and refill? I ask because the filter could be somewhat plugged.

Let me know.
