My car ran hot and I hit my brakes to stop. Then when I started to give it gas again I noticed it would not go. When I got to a stop the engine was still running so I tuned it off, then after that it would not crank again. It tries to but it slowly drags down. It held on like it could be losing compression or could it running hot making my started go bad possibly or blow a fuse. I believe I heard a clinking loud noise right before this happened and I got stopped. What are some suggestions?

See if engine will turn over by hand either with bolt on crank or flywheel. If it does then check battery for condition including load test as it may be bad if it does not turn over then have a mechanic check it.
