If it’s really warm out the car is sluggish to go. It will randomly act like it wants to shut off but hasn’t yet. Last night while sitting in idle it acted like it wanted to die and then the A/C got warm.

Hi Cindy,

Chrysler (and others) use what are called Hall Effect sensors for the cam and crank sensors. This is important because they are susceptible to heat. Please see the attached documents for more detail but the PCM times the engine based on these signals and if they are a little off you will have ignition issues. In short this sounds like an ignition issue as in weak spark or spark at the wrong time. I would suggest changing your spark plugs if you have not already done so, and these two sensors.

Even if this doesn't fix your issue, it appears it is time to change your plugs if you haven't already.

Keep in mind that if you change the cam or crank sensor that you need to perform a Cam/Crank variation relearn procedure which requires an appropriate scan tool. So if you have someone else do them, I would suggest specifically asking if they did it because if not, they may be out of sync and that can cause issues.
