My car starts fine. Will drive normally for about 7 miles and I down shift going into town and it shuts off. Won't start again until it cools down to cold. Will run forever in neutral.

Hi,

What you described sounds like a faulty crankshaft position sensor. When they begin to fail, heat adversely affects them causing the engine to lose ignition spark. Interestingly, this can fail without setting a code.

Take a look through this link and let me know if you feel it mirrors what you experience:

If it does, then when the engine stalls and won't restart, check if there is spark to the plugs.

Here is a link that explains how to check:

Let me know what you find.
