Car cranks but will not start

My boyfriend drove the car to work turn it on came home it worked perfectly fine
Today he tried turning is car on all it does is turn over and cranks but won't start
What could be the problem

It could be any number of things, is there plenty of fuel in the car?

If the distributor cap has a crack and there's sparks over there as we'll you think the cap or the coil pack could be the reason why the car won't start cause the coil pack stores energy from the battery to get power and if the cap is cracked air moisture can get through it?

It's possible. Sounds like they need to be replaced anyway.
