I got the car off a trade. It was running for a few days. The last owner said that I had to change out the crankshaft position sensor Before I changed it, I filled the car up with gas and once I parked it, it did not turn back on, so I changed the crankshaft position sensor didn’t clear the code yet and it wasn’t starting so I check to see if it’s getting in spark And it is. So I listen to see if the fuel pump turns on did not hear a hum wired it direct and still didn’t hear a hum so I’m thinking it could be that but need opinions on what else it could be because I put starting fluid to see if it would start and it didn’t start. So could it be the crankshaft position sensor that I haven’t cleared the code yet stopping it from starting or could it just be the fuel pump went thoughts and opinions please help.

Hi,

If there is spark at the plugs, the crankshaft position sensor is working. If there is no change using starting fluid, we have a different issue.

Is it possible for you to record it cranking and upload it for me to hear? You may have a timing issue if the belt jumped or broke. I should be able to tell by listening to it crank.

Let me know.

Joe
