Here are the camshaft position sensors in the images below and more information on the code featured.
The code P0390 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that signifies a problem with the "Camshaft Position Sensor "B" Circuit (Bank 2)". This means that the Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has determined that the signal from the camshaft position sensor for bank 2 (which is the side of the engine that does not contain cylinder #1) is not within the expected parameters.
The camshaft position sensor is a critical component that provides information about camshaft speed to the vehicle's ECM, which uses this data to control ignition timing and fuel injection. When the camshaft position sensor is malfunctioning or its circuit has an issue, the vehicle's ECM cannot receive this crucial data, and the engine may suffer from a variety of problems including poor fuel economy, engine misfires, and even difficulty starting the engine.
