CAM shaft and timing chain diagram/setting the timing diagram

The timing chain actually snapped and broke. One of the teeth on the cam sprocket broke off. All the parts are ordered and my mechanic is putting my baby back together. We cannot find the correct timing setting. Does it line up opposite facing or facing each other? The VW dealer has been no help whatsoever! Please help with a diagram!

Hello,

Please keep in mind that this is an interference engine. If the timing belt breaks during engine operation, there is a good chance that there are internal damages to the engine. Most likely bent valve(s).
