2005 Cadillac STS oil usage

My car uses 2.5 qts of oil every 5,000 miles. I can not drive any further without adding or changing the oil as the car will begin misfiring, etc. The car is in great shape and I have no signs that it is buring oil. Is this normal or is something else wrong?

That is abnormal consumption have you checked plugs for oil fouling? Has car overheated in past? Exhaust pipe have oily black residue?

Thanks for the note. The tailpipe is not covered with abnormal amounts. I will check the plugs to see if anything is looking poorly.
