2005 Cadillac STS 6 cyl Automatic 31000 miles

Hi, my engine light comes on and off randomly and Im not sure why. I use premium fuel only & it does this maybe every other week. I have had it diagnosed and the code is P0036 but I still have no clue what it means. Thank you in advance.

Hi
Means fault in heated control circuit in oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 2 ie. Left exhaust after CAT. The intermitten light is PCM sensing an open in circuit. Testing can be done by dealer or you can attempt replacement of O2. Does car runbadly when light is on?

No, actually it doesnt. The engine light just bothers me and then makes me nervous sometimes seeing it. I spoke with the dealer a few minutes ago, I may have it replaced this afternoon. A new o2 sensor is only $85 and the labor is $99 so that seems like a good deal. What do you think?

Yes light can cause anxiety because of interrmitent I think O2 replacement the way to go.
