Electrical problem
1998 Cadillac STS V8 Automatic 128000 miles

None of the lights on the lower trunk light panel work: no reverse lights, no license plate lights, no inner brake lights.

The "Christmas Tree" LCDs on top of the trunk work (some of them, at least), the brake lights on the rear fenders work, and the rear fender blinkers work, but not the lights on the lower trunk light panel. A minor mechanic tested the reverse light socket, and said their was power there, but no ground. He said all three contacts in the sockets were "hot", no ground. The bulbs all look good. I even replaced the license plate bulbs, but they still wouldn't work. Any ideas? Thanks, Vauneld.

First check all of your fuses. With so many bulbs, they should be on more than one circuit.

If the fuses check out, then look for a wiring problem. The ground wire that's locate in the trunk under the liner may have come loose or corroded. Also, check the connectors for corrosion.
