Heater problem
1993 Cadillac STS V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 130 K miles

My dash controls no longer operate the blower feature, I removed the blower physically and had it tested. It works fine outside the vehicle. Is it possible the attenuator has gone out in the control panel? If so, how do I replace and where is it located? Dealer serviceable only?

Thanks for donating!

If blower motor is not operating but motor itself is good, check the blower relay and the blower motor fuse. Do you have the auto or manual A/C & Heat control panel?

A few checks to make. If you know your way around a test light, and you know where the HVAC power module is located(it is in the hvac case at about center firewall, two connectors), check for power on the big red wire in the connector by itself. The ground is the black wire in the four pin connector. Is this a northstar powertrain? If there is no power on the red wire, check the 40 amp maxi fuse in rh underhood fuse box. The ground for the power module is G301, it is on the RH A-pillar behind the kick panel. Also check for power and ground at the two pin blower connector with system on. Check for power on the purple wire using an isolate ground first. If the light lights, check continuity to ground on the black wire. If there is no continuity to ground, and this is a northstar powertrain, check the ground stud on the rear bank head, down by the coolant temp sensor, prndl sw, area.
