2004 Cadillac SRX power steering too tight

My Power steering hose got a hole in it and we replaced the hose, now it is so tight you have to do a 5 point turn to get out of a parking spot.
is it a air pocket problem or the power steering pump?

Do you have any noise, and have you checked the fluid level in the reservoir? If it is low, you should have noise. If it is really low, you will have no assist, and no noise. Even if you had air in the system, the pump should cavitate, and that makes a growling noise when it happens. It could also have a failed pump, it does not take them long if run low, to burn up.
