2000 Other Cadillac Models wont start; fuel problem?

I have a 2000 escalade. I was driving when it sudden ly boggs down and dies. I've been having problems for about a month now. If it sits over nights or for an extended time frame it will be hard to start. I can hear the pump wind up when I turn key on. I'm running out of ideas, can you hear me?

Try turning the key on for 5 secs then off, then on for 5 secs and off then on for 5 secs and off, then crank it if it fires up you probably have a bad fuel pressure regulator.
