1989 Other Cadillac Models air conditioner clutch

The air conditioner clutch locks up and that belt controls everything in the motor. We have replaced the clutch at least 3 times in the past six months. What gives?

The clutch is either misaligned or you are not spacing the clutch plate like it should be. Thee is a certain air gap that must be made when replacing the clutch and if you just tighten the nut then it destroys this. The gap shold be about.075"
