I have a 2005 Cadillac Escalade that is giving a false fuel reading. The fuel gauge would go up and the range would increase rather than decrease as I drive. This actually happens when driving on the freeway or a steady pace. I took it to the dealer and they did a gauge sweep and that wasn't the problem, they said it might be a fuel sensor. If there's any other possibility that this is occurring please inform me because the dealer is taking their sweet time. I would like to help them pinpoint the problem

Actually the fuel level sensor is a common problem on these vehicles, the dealer should know this. The only way to test the level sensor is to remove the tank and remove the sending unit and take an ohms reading on the level sensor and that will tell you if it is bad. Post back with any other questions.

Any luck about your escalde, I am having almost same problem, the fuel gauge dance sometime goes up and down, I changed the fuel pump ( used from salvage yard) and it didn't solve the problem then I changed a instrument cluster and still same thing.
