1961 Cadillac EL Dorado brakes

I have a recently purchased 1959 cadillac eldorado biarrits. When I drive it around town. Stop and go. For a few hours ii loose all braking ability both foot and emergency. I can just barely stop the car. This has happened a few times. After the car sits a whille the brakes come back into operation. My mechanic cannot explain it. Can you?

Collapsed brake hose, I had a similar problem and found it to be a collapsed front left brake hose.

Also you may want to flush the brake system very good. This could also be contaminated fluid if it only happenes when it gets hot.
