2006 Cadillac DTS Mechanic suggests TB & injector servi

2006 CADILLAC DEVILLE DTS
47,000 MILES • V8 • FWD • AUTOMATIC

My mechanic has suggested that my vehicle should have the throttle body and injectors cleaned, for $140. The car is running fine, does not stumble or miss under all driving conditions. Is it neccessary to do this if there are no symptoms?

Are we trying to do this in conjunction with some other maintenance service, or to address a problem? My guess is, it is for additional sales. To be honest with you, it probably is not needed.
