I have a 03 Caddy deville. The heater fan went out and came back the next day about 6 days ago. The fan sounded as though it had an inconsistant speed from time to time since then. Today I have no heat and it is 14 degrees in Wisconsin. I need heat. The dealer thought it was a fan but I think it's a relay. Any idea if my theory is correct and where is the relay located and how do I test it?

Thanks

Hi:
If the fan was making a funny noise, the motor may be the problem. To check it, you need to get to it under the dash on the passanger side. If it's getting power and not running, replace the motor. Also, check the blower motor resister (which I believe is in the same area as the motor). It may be burnt as a result of a bad motor pulling too many amps.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

I found that the blower motor was at fault. "Quality" parts from GM only last 5 years. Go figure. I thought I bought a Cadillac for quality reasons. Thanks for the response. By the way the Cadillac dealer wants $400 for the new motor and reto fit. I found it on e-bay for alot less.

Hi:
I'm glad you got it figured out. You can save a lot by going to some of the parts stores too.

Have a nice Christmas,

Joe
