I have a 2000 deville DTS with 75000 miles, has the northstar v8 sometimes the "service stability system" light comes on and sometimes the "service security system" come on these do not stay on and when I have taken it to 2 different cadillac dealers they claim they can not find any thing and supposively reset the codes, but they continue to come on sometimes. Nothing seems to be wrong with the car, what can I do to reset and keep these warning lights from coming on?
also car uses abuot 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles, I have been told by dealer this is normal for a Northstar, is this corrrect? (I change oil every 3000 miles)
Thanks for your help!

If there are codes to be reset, then there is something to check out. Without knowing them, it would be very difficult to guess what it could be. There is no way to reset the lights and them never come back on if there is a problem. ! Quart per 1k miles. Does it leak any, or is it burning it all? I know those N-stars are notorious leakers. But that amount to be burned sounds like alot

If the lites is on I need the codes, when they come on you can push off and warmer at the same time on the heater controls, this will put it in diagnastics, codes will flash on instrement panel, the oil consumption is not normal, cadillac says a qt every 3000 miles, are you taking it to a cad dealer or a chevy dealer? Your oil prob is carbon holding piston rings, a cadillac dealer will know how to fix this prob with chemicals, chevy dealers only try to work on caddys, a real caddy dealer will know how to repair your car. I can help if you have more questions but I need thoes codes

If that isn't the silliest thing I have heard of. Just because a particular mechanic works for a particular doesn't give him any qualifications to do squat. Is there a magical morphesus that take place upon entering a Caddy dealership that gives supernatural powers to perform auto repair on them? You say some of the silliest things.

So he obviously must be taking it to a non-caddy dealer because that dealer is telling him it burns a quart of oil every 1000 miles. Since you went through the magical morphesus as a caddy tech there is no way a caddy dealer would tell him that. Spellcheck may help make you seem a little smarter, not that it will.
