2000 Cadillac Deville V8 Automatic 87500 miles

My Check Engine Light is on, I had to get the Annual Inspection (NY), it has been a problem since last year, my mechanic was able to reset, but it came back. He has changed some Sensors, but that did not do it. What other problems can turn on the Check Engine Light and what can I do to fix it?

I am not sure how many things can turn the light on, but there are many. If you can secure a diagnostic code, that would narrow it down considerably. If you press 'INFO' up, and 'ON/OFF' together and hold them untill all the segments illuminate, you will have entered on-board diagnostics. You should see 'ALL?' On your info center. You then use the info button up or down to scroll the modules alphabetically. 'ON/OFF' executes. Find PCM, and press on/off. It will either display PCM codes, or PCM clear codes? Again use info button to scroll, we want PCM Codes, and press on/off. Record the codes and report back.
