1997 Cadillac Deville turn off

Hello my name is juan and I have a problem with my 1997 cadillac deville when I want to start it in the morning the car wants to start but it does not start then I try the second time and it might turn on it might not then I try to turn it on the third time and it will but it smells like burning gas. Whats wrong with it can you guys help me?

I am assuming that it cranks and just won't fire. First thing to chek would be remove the upper engine cover and pull the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator. If there is liquid present, then you have raw fuel bleeding into the induction system, and also pressure bleeding down. If that ends up with nothing, then the fuel pressure should be checked. It should build to around 45 psi at key up.
