Engine Mechanical problem
1992 Cadillac Deville V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

This cadilac I am working on. When you push the gas it has no power(very slugish) in drive. It has power in reverse. The cat converter gets red hot. Converter is new. I ran the car with the cat off does the same thing.

Hi:
It sounds like there is a sensor problem. It could be the O2 sensor; however, I would have the computer scanned for trouble codes. It should identify the problem. My concern is you melted down the new converter.
