Transmission problem
2003 Cadillac CTS 6 cyl Automatic 111000 miles

As I pulled into my sloped driveway and put the vehicle into park, I took my foot off the brake and felt the vehicle roll backwards. I immediately put my foot back on the brake and attempted to move the gear back to park. When I did this the shifter became stiff and I was unable to move it out of reverse. I paniced after rolling backwards some more and not shifting so I finally yanked the keys out and tried to restart it, with no luck. Now my car is stuck in reverse and the battery is dead from the dimmer light staying on all night. Is there anything I can try? No warranty btw.

If you can raise the vehicle, there is a 10mm nut that connects the trans linkage to the shifter, I believe it is on the passenger side. Disconnect this and see first if the transmission can be manually shifted from below, Then see if the shifter moves. Perhaps something got up in there and is preventing, or bent/broken. I believe if you manually shift the transmission into park, you might be able to start it, but that doesn't solve the matter.
