2002 Cadillac Catera brake lights

When I hit the breaks my break lights wont turn on. What do I do?

Start by checking the fuses
fuse # 12 in the power distribution fuse block
check red wire at the brake light switch should have power
step on the brake and check black/yellow wire it should have power if not switch no good remove and replace
