1997 Cadillac Catera

so. Im not a mechanic, but I know how to change oil. My friend recently picked up a cadillac catera and I went to change to oil for him. I was under the car finding the pan so I could drain it, and it appears that I need a star bit to do this. Is that the correct piece to drain from? Also, I was unable to locate the oil filter, so I was wondering where that is as well.

thanks.

Hey there

Yes that star head is correct, No idea why GM would do that on just that car but ya you need a star head be careful not to strip it when removing it. The oil filter is all the way in a silver cainster housing with another star head type head and you need that and a really long wrench a 20 mil if I remmeber correctly and its a tight space you unscrew the cap off the housing and the filter is inside of that, quite a pan for a simple oil change but thats just GM for you.
