I have a Ford 360 engine with a C5 transmission that for the last two months have been popping out of park and going into reverse. Then one day the reverse was just gone I have no reverse and all the other gears work. How do I fix it?

It's a C6 not a C5 I may be a clutch pak gone on this, have a trans guy check it. Popping out of park may have been an adjustment or weak spring for parking pawl, they used to do that a lot. There was a fix but I forgot now been to long on this.

I did take a photo from the transmission showing the part number and from what I can see it shows a C5 MP. And I prefer to fix this myself if I know how to fix it since I really don't have the funds to have someone do it. Thanks for helping.

First thing if you have one the id tag will be on the servo cover bolt on rh side of transmission. Second drive vehile about 10-15 miles and check trans fluid to make sure it is full it must be hot and checking at start up is not hot. Third make sure manual linkage is adjusted correctly, popping out o f park is one for not being adjusted correctly. Finally after fully warmed up put in 1 or low and see if truck moves. If it doesn't the low/reverse clutch is more than likely shot. If you pull pan and see very fine grindings like bronze colored and not a lot don't worry abou t that it's normal. Then check to see if filter is in all the way. It may not be andcan create the problem. If fluid is very dark brown or black trans will need a rebuild
