I’m building a 5.3ls lm7 engine like this one y’all built but I don’t know if I want to do whipe and I’m not sure if that’ll change the rebuilt numbers like the piston bore or the performance parts. I need help on knowing what route to take and what’s best.

Thank you so much for watching the series!

Well, it all depends on what you want to do with it. Are you looking for a stock rebuild?

Well. I'm guessing since I was going to build it for boost exactly like yours I wasn't so sure if the parts like the cam or the same pistons Ya'll, but on ya'll build was good enough for either or I was going to go turbo but still not sure on the cam shaft for that either because I want a cam that would do numbers but also have a chop to it. Could you recommend something perfect for that?

I did not build mine to be boosted. So, for a boosted application, the pistons and connecting rods we used are perfect for that though. They can handle boost and power up to 1200 horsepower. I would go for a forged crankshaft, however. We reused our stock one. Just make sure you open your piston rings much wider. Piston rings come with that info in the box for how wide they need to be for a boosted application.

For the camshaft you really should have one intended for a boosted application, here is my recommendation.

Also, you are going to need to check your pushrod length, here is a link on that:

https://www.compcams.com/valve-train-geometry

You really do not want your valves making contact with the top of the pistons. Also, you are going to have to change the valve springs to the stronger ones that are on that Summit page's combination.

Okay, so the same pistons are fine but what about everything else arp bolts or like lifters you’ve covered the pistons and camshaft for me, thank you. I’m just trying to have the perfect parts for this build ready to assemble and get what I want out of it. I appreciate the help! Any recommendations on anything else I should change for this build?

ARP is my go-to bolt company. I recommend them for head bolts instead of the stock TTY style GM bolts.

If you have any other questions, please let me know!
