My 1995 Buick Riviera SC has a starting problem. I put the key in and all the lights light up I turn the key and nothing happens. No cranking or anything. I have to do this a number of times and then it cranks right up. There is no rhyme or reason or pattern. This morning it started like a brand new car, one turn of the key. No weak cranking at all, it either turns over or not. Yesterday it was twenty minutes of key turning without a response, then the enginge turns and starts. Any suggetions? What should I be testing or looking at?

One thing to look at is your security light. Is it on during the no start condition, or does it flash continuously?

If you have a test light and an assistant, you could check to see if you are getting power to the purple wire on your starter solenoid when your key is turned to the start position. If so, you may have a bad starter. But don't forget to check the basics first, your battery cable connections and cables are the most likely place to start and the cheapest to repair.
