I have a 2004 Buick Rendevous V6 3.4 with 55,000 miles. My AC has been making a loud squeaking sound ever since 30,000 miles. I took the car to the Buick dealer and they said that sound was normal. I thought that didn't sound right so I asked them are you for sure it is supposed to do this? There answere was yes. This was taken to two different dealers and the both said the same thing. Do you have any ideas why this is happening? The sound is something that doesn't always happen everytime but when it does it last from a few seconds up to 20 seconds.

I'm not aware of a squealing that is normal. Try something for me. When is squeals the next time, open the hood while it is making the noise and pour a little water on the serp belt. Keep in mind, it will splash you so be careful. If the sound changes or stops, either the belt needs replaced or the tensionier is getting weak. Most likely the belt with the mileage on the vehicle.

Let me know what you find.
