Power Locks, Trunk won't work

1999 Buick Regal, 154,000 miles, V6. My power locks stopped working, with either the remote or from within the vehicle. The remote works; it will sound the horn and flash the lights as if it's trying to lock the car, but nothing else happens. Is this a fuse issue? Is it something I could possibly do (total novice to car repairs) or is it a dealer issue?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello !

Well start checking the fuses. All of them (under the dashboard) if you have the book of your car it should show you which its the one for the locks.

You have nothing to loose!

And its an easy task!

Let us know and good Luck!

Thanks, Fisherman for your fast response. The fuse for the lights was burned out, so I replaced it, but the new fuse burned out after two or three times using the remote to lock the car. I sense this is some electrical issue which is going to cost me a lot of money. Ouch. Wrong tiime of year for expensive car repairs. Thanks again.?

Hello !
I`m sorry to hear that!

The problem could be an easy fix (like a faulty Lock solenoid or motor. A loose wire.)

I can pull out some schematics but it can take a lot of troubleshooting to locate the problem and probably you`ll need some skills on electrical stuff.

I just hope that you can find someone honest enough that can fix your car without getting your christmas money.

I wish you the best and good luck!

Fisherman - thanks for the offer of the schematics, but it would do me no good. I know absolutely nothing about that stuff, and will definitely need to take my car in to a mechanic. Maybe they can fix the heater (my passenger side vents blow only cold air) while they're at it. I really appreciate your response. Have a great holiday season!
