1999 Buick Regal 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 116691 miles

While driving in the rain I turned my wiper blades on and the one on the drivers side went past the window to the left and sort of sticks there. When I placed it back on the window it moves going down but it sticks again almost in a straight up position to the point where the blade on the right runs across the top of it. The blade on the left will not move and sticks there unless you move it with your hand. When you do that, it does the same thing again. Goes off the window to the left and sticks in the middle of the window. What can the problem be? It acts like it's getting stuck on something but there is nothing that I can see there to get stuck on.

You probably have fixed this since you post, but if not, here goes.
I had the same problem twicw with my Regal. Mine was caused by the fact that the wiper is cast aluminum and the matching gear is steel/ The teeth on the arm are very fine and, is stressed, will shear off. I have not been able to locate this part at any parts store and had to go to salvage yards both times. From what they implied, this is a common problem with this year/model. If you can't find one, iI believe Impala arms are the same size. Hope this helps!
