Engine Performance problem
1999 Buick Regal V8 Automatic 69,000 miles

The check engine light recently came on in my Mothers used car she purchased back in July. I am not sure if I chose the right engine size but believe it has 360 on it when you open the hood or maybe V8. I really do not know. Anyway, car has been and is running fine. The check engine light came on yesterday and after starting and stopping during the day was still on.

The dealer asked her if she'd recently filled up with gas and she had about 2 days ago.

What do you suggest.

Hi:
The car most likely has a V6. They never put a V8 in the 1999. Regardless, if the car is running good, just take it to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for problem codes. Most of the stores will scan it for free. They will be able to tell you what the problem is and what needs done. If you have any additional questions, feel free to get back in touch with me.

NOTE: Since the car is running good, it's most likely an HVAC issue (gas cap, hose leaking.)
