How do I release the tension to replace my heater hose

When you say releave the tension if it's a regular hose clamp, it will have a screw on it. Use a screw driver to turm the screw or I believe a 5/16 socket will fit. If it's a tension clamp, you need to squeeze the two prongs together with pliers.
